The Captain Fryatt is a Free House which means we can offer an extensive range of draught beers, ales, wines and spirits. The bar has a pool table and Sky T.V. There is separate newly opened air conditioned restaurant serving authentic Indian cuisine at great prices.
There is history attached to Captain Fryatt Guest House & Pub, it takes its name from a real person; Charles Algernon Fryatt (2 December 1872 – 27 July 1916) was who a British mariner executed by the Germans for attempting to ram a U-boat in 1915. When his ship, the SS Brussels, was captured off the Netherlands in 1916, he was court-martialed and sentenced to death although he was a civilian non-combatant. International outrage followed his execution near Bruges, Belgium. In 1919, his body was reburied with full honors in the United Kingdom.
We offer warm overnight accommodation for the weary traveler in one of our 6 of recently refurbished guest rooms available at great rates.
